Interview with Joey, Bob, Anne, Beth, Gary and Cheev
JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail? Joey: Be prepared to be dragged through the jail
system. Bob: Stay cool, exercise, read whatever books you can
get your hands on; and just look forward to the
next meal until you can get out. Just looking
forward to the next meal seems to make time go
better than waiting for days/weeks/months to be
over. Anne: Yes, please let them know that jail is a horrible place and please
learn from their mistake and never go to jail again. Beth: visit them as often as you can to show that you
are there for them. Gary: If bail is possible, do it as soon as possible.
Jail life gets easier but it
is in no way fun. Its demoralizing, dangerous and
unhealthy. Beth: help thm please its inhumane!! Cheev: stay in contact with your people because those
police are beatin people up & are just not right
JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them? Joey: No place like home. Stay away from jail Bob: Don't break the law. Anne: Stay out of jail. Beth: just keep hope alive Gary: Keep your head down, stay safe and good luck. Cheev: sue 4 any wrong doing by the dekalb jail dont let
them get away with nothin
JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to. Cheev: none

I have been visiting my son who has been detained since November, 2008. I dread going there to see him behind glass, but I trust that God knows best. He has to pay for his offense, but that does not make it easier to bear. If anyone happens to read this and you are at the brink of getting into trouble, please consider the fact that you are affecting more than just yourself. It is heartbreaking to see all of the babies that have to brought to the jail to visit their parents. That is something no child should have to see.

On my visit to the Dekalb County Jail, I have experienced some awful things. I do understand that the jail is to be nothing fancy, so that people won't want to come back but when you visit, the areas should be clean. The restroom in the lobby area as soon as you enter the building, is always filthy and stink. When we go up to the 6NE the visitor’s side the floors are always disgusting and so are the phones. After going through this with my baby I asked the person that I was visiting, how are their situations and they stated that the restroom or toilet that they use in the "commons area", or wherever they are when they can't be in their room is so bad that urine has been all over the floor so long that gnats and flies were all over everything and that its in the same area where their food and juice is placed. I feel that even though people do things that aren't right they are still human and that if they come in healthy then they should leave health. Gnats and flies carry germs and I would hate for our loved ones to get sick from being bite by a gnat that already bite and infected person prior, because a facility was to lazy to maintain the building.
Thanks
